Belgian Shepherd Rescue
Australia
ABOUT US
Belgian Shepherd Rescue Australia is the first national organisation established solely for the rescue, rehoming and rehabilitation of Belgian Shepherds in need of a second (or third or fourth!) chance.

We firmly believe that shelters and pounds are not appropriate places for Belgian Shepherds to spend any length of time. Not only is this stressful for the dog, but it also means the pound has one less space, therefore sadly contributing to the euthanasia of other breeds.
Our mission is to provide a compassionate rehoming service, medical intervention, behavioural support and a stable home environment out of shelters to Belgian Shepherds Australia-wide.

Belgian Shepherd Rescue Australia is registered as a charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission ABN 87 395 265 576.

  1. BSRA MEET-AND-GREET
We were very lucky to have the team at Best Friends Pet Supercentre Kawana welcome us in for an adoption and meet-and-greet day on 10th October, 2015.

A big thank you to Glenn and his team for hosting us so graciously and also donating a tonne of food to our dogs.

As you can, our dogs had a great time.
  2. SULLY THE SERVICE DOG
Together with his wonderful new owner, Lucy, and the fantastic team atMindDog Australia Sully has been excelling at his training as a certified service dog.

This training will give Sully the manners and skills to assist those with mental illness in their day to day lives. He is working towards a full public access pass which will have him strolling the isles of the local shops and entering any public place that we humans are allowed. If you live in Ballina it's possible you will see Sully getting about town!
  3. A SPECIAL FAMILY FOR A SPECIAL GIRL
Rosie's tale of survival touched the hearts of thousands of our supporters - some as far as the UK and USA!

Rosie was one of our Puppy Farm Survivors. She is the mother of the youngest litter of puppies and she sustained shocking injuries to her neck after attempting to care for her babies whilst tied up on an industrial chain.

It took a number of weeks of vet care and TLC from her foster home before Rosie was ready to find her very own family and it just so happened that the perfect family was also out there waiting for her.

Rosie could not have ended up in a better situation and we are so grateful to her new humans for showing Rosie the love and dedication she deserves.
  4. OUR FRIENDS AT THE RAAF
We are so incredibly thankful to the wonderful women, men and dogs who showed us such amazing support up at the RAAF Base Tindal in the Northern Territory.

They banded together and raised over $600 worth of much needed funds for the rescue, a fantastic accomplishment that we are so grateful for.

  5. POLICE DOG EXTRAORDINARE
When Zeeke arrived in rescue he showed some concerning behaviour. He'd been raised in a loving home environment until 8mths old when he started displaying typical working line Malinois traits. With the much appreciated assistance of the amazing Steve Courtney of K9 Pro, who identified that little Zeeke might just have the right stuff for a life as NSW Police dog, on April 5th, 2016, Zeeke was accepted in to the NSW Police canine unit.

Another win for rescue dogs everywhere, showing just how much potential there is for homeless pets!

  7. LITTLE SUPERSTAR
'Sissy Circles', as she became affectionately known, was surrendered to Belgian Shepherd Rescue Australia in early 2016. Realising this energetic little girl had huge amounts of potential to serve our defence force proudly, we sent her off for predevelopment work with on of our training partners.

On April 4, 2016, Sissy was officially chosen to join the RAAF Military Working Dog program. We could not be more proud of this gorgeous little Malinois girl. Proving that not all rescue dogs are broken!
